Airlines extend flight cancellations into and out of U.S. north east due to snow storms

Flight cancellations have extended into the start of the working week in Boston, New York and Philadelphia as a fierce snow storm which hit the northeast U.S. over the weekend continued to cause havoc with airline schedules. Read More » Local media reported there have been more than 10,000 flights cancelled through to Tuesday (24 February) due to the storm. New York City mayor, Zohran Mamdani, declared a local state of emergency yesterday, which included the closure of roads, highways and bridges to all vehicles from 2100 local time Sunday to noon Monday. New York JFK airport said on social media the major snowstorm was expected to have a significant impact on travel and called on passengers to check their flight status regularly with the airline before heading to the airport. Air India extended its cancellation of all flights into and out of New York by another day, to February 24. Korean Air has cancelled flights to February 24 on four routes from Seoul - Boston, New York JFK, Toronto Pearson and Washington Dulles. Asiana Airlines said flight delays and possible cancellations were "expected to continue for an extended period due to the snowfall".
