Boeing will not make changes to the stretched B787-10, despite Emirates Airline's request for better performance in hot climates. Read More » "The plan is not to change the aircraft, we really like what we have," Randy Tinseth, vice president marketing at Boeing Commercial Airplanes, told reporters in Dubai when asked about a potential redesign of the aircraft for Emirates.

Emirates, the largest B777 operator, last month said it would delay an order decision for nearly 100 long-haul aircraft to next year, with either Boeing for its 787-10 or Airbus for the A350-900.

Emirates chief, Tim Clark, has raised doubts about the 787-10's ability to carry heavy passenger and cargo loads beyond eight hours due to the performance in hot climates - an issue for a Gulf carrier. To date, Airbus has received 598 orders for the A350. Boeing has received 146 commitments for the -10.

What it isn't clear is what's Tim Clark is looking for or, alternatively, what he's afraid of. If he's afraid about the capacity of a stretched composite structure to withstand an increased load on one of the hottest place all over the world, well I can understand. It's Boeing's duty demonstrate that the same thickness of composite structure material is useful to the purpose.

It's bit unusual that the manufacturer is rejecting the proposal given the by the customer to fit the design to the needs of customer's business. Comment says: "The plan is not to change the aircraft, we really like what we have," Agreed, you like this but how about the customer?
