March 30th 2026
Air New Zealand (Air NZ) is installing new checkin kiosks developed by its research and development team to speed up the checkin process for passengers across its network of NZ airports. Read More » The rollout followed a recent 10-month trial of four machines at Auckland’s domestic terminal between June last year and March, which showed the average checkin time fell from more than two minutes to 37 seconds due to faster scanning and printing and more intuitive prompts throughout the process. "We focus our innovation efforts on better customer outcomes," Air NZ chief customer and digital officer, Jeremy O’Brien, said. "The purpose of our research and development team is to make travel easy and frictionless. And no one knows our customers better than our frontline team. As a business, we’ve worked together to develop, test and launch the new kiosks." The kiosks were expected to be in operation at all NZ airports the Star Alliance member flies to by the end of July.
