Qantas betters Virgin Australia in domestic on-time performance in Australia in March

For March 2026, the Qantas network (Qantas and QantasLink combined operations) recorded 80.1% for on-time arrivals, while the Virgin Australia network (Virgin Australia and Virgin Australia Regional Airlines combined operations) recorded 77.7%, the data published by Australia’s Bureau of Infrastructure and Transport Research Economics (BITRE) indicated. Read More » Hinterland achieved the highest on-time arrivals at 84.3%, followed by QantasLink at 82.0%, Virgin Australia at 77.8%, Qantas at 76.5%, Virgin Australia Regional Airlines at 73.2%, Jetstar at 72.7%, Skytrans Australia at 69.8%, and Rex Airlines at 66.9%. The Qantas network recorded 81.9% for on-time departures, while the Virgin Australia network recorded 78.7%. Hinterland achieved the highest level of on-time departures for March 2026 at 88.6%, followed by QantasLink at 82.6%, Qantas at 80.7%, Virgin Australia at 78.8%, Skytrans Australia at 73.0%, Virgin Australia Regional Airlines at 71.7%, Rex Airlines at 70.7%, and Jetstar at 70.1%. Overall, for the routes operated by participating airlines, on-time performance in March averaged 77.0% for on-time arrivals and 78.2% for on-time departures. The cancellation rate for the month was 2.7%. The equivalent figures for March 2025 were 80.2% for on-time arrivals, 80.7% for on-time departures, and 5.0% for cancellations, BITRE said.
