Thai AirAsia X cuts schedule in response to fuel costs

Thai AirAsia X (TAAX) has suspended flights to two destinations and reduced flying on four routes from its Bangkok Don Mueang hub as part of a "necessary business realignment" in response to geopolitical tensions and rising oil prices amid the ongoing conflict in the Gulf region. Read More » The LCC has stopped flying to Riyadh and Shanghai Pudong and cut frequencies to Almaty, Delhi, Osaka Kansai and Tokyo Narita. TAAX said it was contacting passengers impacted by the schedule change "at least 10 to 30 days" before departure. "We have had to make the difficult but necessary decision to reduce and temporarily suspend certain flights, particularly during the second quarter," TAAX CEO Pattra Boosarawongse, said. "This is a direct response to the prolonged surge in global aviation fuel prices and the broader operational impacts surrounding our Middle East routes. We sincerely apologize for any disruption these schedule adjustments may cause, especially on our highly popular direct routes to Japan. We want to assure our passengers that we have meticulously managed our schedule to maintain sufficient flight frequencies, guaranteeing that guests traveling during the upcoming consecutive holidays will reach their destinations smoothly.
