Thai Airways achieves 2.7% lift in quarterly profit

Thai Airways International (THAI) reported net profit of 10.1 billion baht (US$309 million) for the three months to March 31 2026, up 2.7% from 9.8 billion baht in the same three months in 2025. Read More » Operating revenue fell 1.2% to 51 billion baht, THAI said in a regulatory filing. Operating costs were 1.8% lower at 37.3 billion baht. "The first quarter of 2026, the global economy slowed down more than anticipated, due to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East," THAI said. "However, supporting factors remained, such as the formation of the government, investment and exports of electronic goods and a temporary reduction in U.S. import tariffs on Thai products." Looking ahead, the Star Alliance member said it was on track to grow its fleet from 80 aircraft at the end of 2025 to 102 this year before reaching 111 aircraft in 2027 and 128 aircraft in 2028. "The long-term fleet plan is proceeding as planned," THAI said in a slide presentation accompanying its financial results. "No changes due to the Middle East situation."
