China Airlines posts 3.5% passenger growth, double-digit increase lift in revenue for May

Read More » Passenger load factor rose 5.8 percentage points to 81.4% as demand, measured by revenue passenger kilometres, climbed 6% and capacity contracted 1.6% in the month. The SkyTeam alliance member booked passenger revenue of T$9.1 billion (US$288 million) for the 31 days, up 10.1% from T$8.3 billion in May 2025. Cargo revenue jumped 53.8% to T$8.2 billion, CAL said in its monthly financial and operational report. “The travel market remained vibrant in May,” CAL said. “Passenger load factor for destinations such as Rome, Vienna, Frankfurt, Prague, Sydney, and Brisbane all averaged above 85%.” For the cargo market, CAL said shipments of related high-tech servers, semiconductor equipment and other products continued to boost shipping rates in the air cargo market in May. “In June, conflict in the Middle East is still weighing on international oil prices,” CAL said. “China Airlines is closely monitoring industry developments even as we adjust our cargo network and optimise hold configurations to target charter and high-value cargo sources.”
