Bangkok Airways posts double digit increase in interim profit

Bangkok Airways has reported net profit of 2.4 billion baht (US$73 million) for the six months to June 30 2026, up 16.6% from 2.1 billion baht in the same six-month period in 2025. The bottom line improvement was achieved despite the number of passengers carried falling 3.7% to 2.1 million during the half, which Bangkok Airways attributed to the impact of "geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, which affects passengers’ travel decisions and led to higher long-haul travel costs". In response to market conditions, the airline reduced capacity, or available seat kilometres, by 11.6% year-on-year in the first half of calendar 2026, while revenue passenger kilometres (RPK) - a measure of demand - fell 5.7%. Passenger load factor was 5.1 percentage points higher at 76%. "During the second quarter of 2026, the global aviation industry experienced a moderation in growth across all regions amid ongoing global economic uncertainty and volatile energy prices," Bangkok Airways said. "In the second quarter of 2026, the company reduced flight operations to align capacity with softer travel demand resulting from geopolitical tensions in the Middle East."
