HKIA posts 8.4% lift in passengers for July

Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) reported 5.6 million passengers for July, up 8.4% from 5.2 million in the same month in 2025. Read More » The number of flight movements rose 1.7% to 34,230 in July. "Overall passenger growth in July was primarily driven by a double-digit increase in transfer/transit passengers, with Hong Kong residents and visitors posting modest gains," Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) said. "Most markets expanded in July, while the decline in the Middle East continued to narrow." Cargo volumes fell 1.9% year-on-year to 430,000 tonnes in July. "The global air cargo market continues to navigate a complex operating environment shaped by changing trade landscape," AAHK director for hub development, Chapman Fong, said. "The growth in markets like Southeast Asia and the Chinese Mainland underscores the resilience of Hong Kong’s role as a leading international cargo hub."
