Air China widens net loss to 2.3 billion yuan in first half of 2026

Air China posted a net loss of 2.3 billion yuan (US$340 million) for the first half of calendar 2026, compared with a net loss of 1.8 billion yuan for the corresponding six-month period in 2025. Fuel costs were 34.7% higher in the half, which was "mainly due to the effect of the increase in the prices of jet fuel", the Star Alliance member said. "The collection of fuel surcharges has relieved the jet fuel cost pressure on the group to a certain extent," Air China said.
