Biman Bangladesh Airlines places order for 11 additional Boeing aircraft

Read More » The purchase follows the airline’s largest-ever order, for 14 787 Dreamliner and 737 MAX airplanes, placed earlier this year, expanding the planned orders to 25 jets. “The new fuel-efficient, technologically advanced aircraft will modernize Biman’s fleet, sharpen operational performance, and extend its international route network — strengthening Bangladesh’s position in the global aviation market,” said Kaizer Sohel Ahmed, Managing Director and CEO of Biman Bangladesh Airlines. Biman currently flies from Dhaka, Bangladesh, to 22 international destinations, including major hubs in the Middle East, South and Southeast Asia, and Europe. It operates a fleet of 14 Boeing airplanes – 787-9s, 787-8s, 777s and Next-Generation 737s.
The agreement is part of Bangladesh’s efforts to boost imports from the United States, ease pressure from a roughly $6 billion trade imbalance, and reduce the risk of tariff increases that could hurt its export-driven economy, particularly the garment sector, Reuters reported.
