China Southern Airlines and Malaysia Airlines widen codeshare network

China Southern Airlines (CSA) and Malaysia Airlines have added five routes to the pair’s codeshare agreement, comprising Malaysia Airlines-operated services from Kuala Lumpur to Chengdu and Xiamen, CSA-operated services from Kuala Lumpur to Zhengzhou and Kuala Lumpur-Changsha and Kuala Lumpur-Shenzhen flights operated by both carriers. Read More » The expanded codeshare routes take effect from October 25 and lifts the total number of routes covered by the airlines’ partnership to nine. "China remains a key strategic market for Malaysia Airlines, and our continued expansion in the country reflects the importance we place on strengthening our connections with the region," Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) CEO, Captain Nasaruddin A. Bakar, said. "This cooperation complements our network, giving customers greater access to key destinations across China while strengthening the links between our respective networks." MAG is the parent company of Malaysia Airlines. China Southern Air Holding Company president, Han Wensheng, said: "China Southern Airlines highly values the enormous growth potential of the Malaysian market. By working closely with Malaysia Airlines, we will further leverage our respective strengths, increase flight frequencies between China and Malaysia, and fully capitalise on the opportunities presented by the mutual visa-free policies." The pair first began codesharing on Malaysia-China routes in July 2023.
