Asia lessors give A320 another boost

Mainland owned but Singapore-based lessor, BOC Aviation, has placed a top-up order for 30 A320 Family aircraft made up of 18 A320neos and 12 A320ceos. Read More » With this order, BOC Aviation has become one of Airbus’ top 10 customers, the manufacturer said.

“This order underscores our continued confidence in the reliability and operational efficiency of the A320 Family aircraft and reflects its popularity among our customers for short- and medium-haul routes,” said Robert Martin, CEO of BOC Aviation. Including this latest purchase agreement, BOC Aviation’s cumulative orders for new Airbus aircraft have reached 306: 12 A330s and 294 A320 Family aircraft including 64 neos.

In Hong Kong, China Aircraft Leasing Group Holdings (CALC), the Mainland’s largest independent lessor, has ordered two more A320ceos, bringing its order book to 142 A320 aircraft. Deliveries of the two A320ceos are scheduled from November.

Airbus is on a roll. It managed to beat its own delivery targets last year by churning out almost twice the average monthly number of airplanes in December, said people familiar with manufacturer. Official figures on deliveries and orders will be announced next Tuesday.
