Qantas Freight has welcomed the first of three A321F freighters to service its contract with Australia Post. Read More » The aircraft, registration VH-XF7, started operating scheduled service last week, adding capacity ahead of the busy end-of-year period for parcel deliveries. Qantas Freight said the A321F freighters are replacing the small BAE 146-300 freighters and add up to 20% more capacity to its freighter network. A further two A321F aircraft are expected to join the Qantas Freight fleet by March next year. "Australia’s freight network plays a critical role in connecting businesses and communities across the country," Qantas Freight executive manager, Igor Kwiatkowski, said. "This investment will help us support Australia Post and respond more effectively as demand for fast overnight deliveries continues to grow." Australia Post general manager for linehaul fleet and special services, Mark Davies, said: "These new aircraft will help us move more parcels across our network and provide additional capacity at a time when online shopping continues to grow and major retail events are driving record parcel volumes."
