Iran Air is also looking at the A350 and the A380 as well as the B737 and B777 to serve the Iranian diaspora in North America, Australia and Europe, the sources said.
This follows an announcement by Iranian minister of transport, Abbas Akhoundi, that Iran planned to acquire up to 114 Airbus aircraft after international sanctions against Iran were lifted on January 16 after 37 years.
Iran has some 250 commercial aircraft on its books, but because of the sanctions a significant proportion of these aircraft are unserviceable and grounded due to lack of parts to keep them flying.
