Zhou "severely violated political discipline, and interfered with and hindered investigations", the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) said in a statement released Tuesday. Zhou was also found to have violated organizational discipline by taking advantage of his post to seek promotions for others, accepting bribes and untruthfully reporting personal matters.
In separate yet related events, China Southern Airlines chairman, Si Xianmin, last week resigned as chief of Asia’s largest carrier, two months after the CPC said he was under investigation for "serious discipline violations”, a euphemism for corruption or bribery.
Si resigned as board chairman, executive director and from the strategic decision-making and nomination committees, the Guangzhou-based carrier said in a statement. The airline has not named a successor, saying instead vice-chairman, Wan Geng Tan, will assume the role and duties of chairman.
CALC appoints another director
China Aircraft Leasing Group Holdings (CALC) has announced the appointment of Chen Chia-Ling as a non-executive director with immediate effect.
Chen has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry and over ten years of experience in asset management, including experience with regard to launching exchange-traded funds.
Chen Shuang, chairman and CALC CEO said, "I am pleased to welcome Chia-Ling to the board. Her appointment will broaden the balance of skills and experience on the board, with particularly relevant and valuable knowledge of financial asset management. I am certain she will make an important contribution to CALC."
