Air China expects first B787-9 in May and Spring Airlines directors approve 60 A320 Family neo purchase

Air China is scheduled to receive the first of 15-on-order GE GEnx-1B-powered B787-9s on May 5, China Aviation Daily has reported, citing a source familiar with the matter. Read More » The airline will accept seven of the aircraft type this year, with the other eight to arrive in Beijing in the next two years. The Mainland carrier said the 15 Dreamliners would increase capacity by approximately 11%.

Further south, Hainan Airlines and Xiamen Airlines will accept their first B787-9s on May 19 and December 6, respectively, with the latter intending to use the aircraft to launch routes to New York and Vancouver.

On Wednesday, the Spring Airlines board approved the purchase of the 45 A320neos and 15 A321neos that the budget carrier ordered last year. The aircraft, with a list price of $6.3 billion, will be delivered from 2019-1923, China’s first LCC, which is based in Shanghai, said in a statement.
