This week Singapore Airlines (SIA) increased its holding in Virgin Australia from 22.91% to 23.11% through equity swaps.

Analysts view SIA as the most likely candidate to buy Air NZ’s shareholding in the Australian airline. This, they say, would cement SIA’s position on the Kangaroo Route and limit the threat of Chinese carriers gaining a stronger foothold Down Under.
