Lufthansa Technik appoints new head of overhaul services

MRO firm Lufthansa Technik has appointed Thomas Rueckert, 45, as its new head of aircraft overhaul services, replacing Soeren Stark, who has been appointed to the executive board of Lufthansa Cargo as COO. Read More »

Rueckert has held various management positions within the Lufthansa Group since joining in 1997.

"We're delighted to have secured Thomas Rueckert, an internationally experienced manager, for this complex role. He already has a proven track record in a very wide range of aircraft maintenance and overhaul activities and will be continuing the successful work of Soeren Stark," said Thomas Stueger, chief executive for products, services and IT at Lufthansa Technik.


Hong Kong Airlines appoints former CAAC director as EVP

Hong Kong Airlines, a HNA Group subsidiary, has hired former Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) director, Wang Liya, as executive vice-president to run its overall business and operations.

Wang, who spent 14 years at the Mainland regulator, resigned in November, citing personal reasons.


Air China’s Fan Cheng retires

Fan Cheng, vice-president and executive director at Mainland flag carrier, Air China, has resigned, citing increasing years. Fan, 60, said he would exit the state-controlled airline with immediate effect. Air China thanked him for his contributions.

Fan joined the Air China Group in 2004 and has held various senior leadership positions, including CFO, and chairman of subsidiary Shenzhen Airlines. Since 2011, he has been secretary of the Communist Party Committee of Air China.
