Turkish Airlines will take delivery of six B777-300ERs and 20 B737-800s this year, the largest number of Boeing aircraft the flag carrier has received in any one year. Read More » Airbus said it could not provide information on the number of aircraft it will deliver to Turkish this year. Turkish Airlines’ fleet is above 311 and growing," said Ahmet Bolat, chief investment and technology officer.

In Kuwait, Jazeera Airways has reported a 33% first-quarter net profit increase, to $13.3 million, although operating revenues slid 7.8% year-on-year. Jazeera’s ASKs grew 2.6% during the quarter, its load factor improved 2.9% to 72.6%, and fuel costs dropped 37%. The carrier’s yield dropped a significant 12%, which CFO, Don Hubbard, said was the result of overcapacity in the region and subsequent highly competitive pricing.

To gain passenger support, the airline has signed up with Rockwell Collins as the launch customer, in early 2017, for a new-generation broadband system that will allow passengers to live stream shows, movies, news or sports on their personal devices. Jazeera operates a fleet of seven A320s on regional services.
