Emirates Airline has been banned from adding destinations and capacity on the Mainland following a January 23 incident when an A380 declared a fuel emergency after having had to go around twice during wind shear conditions at Beijing Capital International Airport. Aside from unsatisfactory fuel reserves, the CAAC alleged the captain involved refused to cooperate with the investigation.
Orient Thai Airlines has been ordered to halt all flights to the Mainland for six months, and pay a fine of 29,000 yuan, after one of its B737-300s landed in Nanning on April 11 with a front wheel missing. Orient Thai flies to Chengdu, Xian, Chongqing, Nanjing and Nanchang.
Also, the CAAC has ordered China Eastern Airlines’ Sichuan branch to reduce existing frequencies and banned it from adding services, “for a period of time”, following a May 1 incident when an A319 struck the approach lights at Kangding Airport. The CAAC said investigations indicated the China Eastern flight crew was responsible for the incident.
