Airlines

Etihad Airways Group has raised an additional $500 million in financing, building on the $700 million it secured in 2015. The funds will be sued for capital expenditure, fleet investments and refinancing. Fuel

ExxonMobil’s Mobil Jet Oil 387 has been approved for use on Rolls-Royce Trent 700, 600, RB211-524 (B, C, D, G and H series) and RB211 C and E4 series. Mobile Jet Oil 387 is a synthetic, high performance capability turbine engine oil. It also has been approved for use on Rolls-Royce Trent 1000, Trent 900 and Trent XWB engines.

EASA has certified Pratt & Whitney’s PW1500G, including the PW1519G, PW1520G, PW1524G and PW1525G variants, which will power Bombardier’s CSeries aircraft. CFM International has received a $140 million order for ten LEAP-1As from Dublin-based lessor SMBC Aviation Capital.

MRO

Safran Aircraft Engines (51%) and AFI KLM E&M (49%) have signed a memorandum of understanding to create a $20 million engine compressor blade repairs joint-venture from late 2017, specializing in CFM International’s CFM56s, GE Aviation’s GE90, and Engine Alliance’s GP7200.

Routes

Air China has cut its Hangzhou-Ibaraki A319 service and will terminate its thrice-weekly Beijing-Addis Ababa A330-200 route from May 25, six months after the route was launched. EVA Air will increase frequency on the Taipei-Paris B777-300ER service from four-weekly to daily beginning October 10. China Eastern Airlines will launch a daily Xian-Incheon A320 flight from June 20. Himalaya Airlines plans to launch a daily Kathmandu-Doha A320 service starting May 31. Australia’s Jetstar will add a thrice-weekly Adelaide- Maroochydore A320 rotation commencing September 30. Juneyao Airlines will terminate its daily Pudong-Fukuoka A320 route effective June 22. Korean Air has launched a thrice-weekly Incheon-Guiyang B737 service. Oman Air will launch a four-weekly Muscat-Guangzhou A330-200 flight starting September 18. Qatar Airways will add a five-weekly Doha-Yangon-Chiang Mai A330-200 rotation from December 16, replacing its current three times a week nonstop service to the Myanmar capital. Scoot will commence flying Narita Japan-Don Mueang Bangkok to Singapore on July 21, taking Scoot’s Narita-Singapore service to double daily. Shenzhen Airlines will add a daily Chengdu-Phuket A320 route commencing June 9. Japan’s Vanilla Air will launch a daily Okinawa-Taipei A320 service from September 14.
