CAAC signs off on 132 new international routes

HNA Group’s Tianjin Airlines got permits for new flights from its Tianjin base to Osaka, Shizuoka, Kitakyushu, Ulaanbaatar, Vladivostok, Fukuoka and Moscow.
Air China is expanding its presence in Shenzhen, adding routes to Los Angeles, Auckland, Frankfurt and Melbourne, as well as new rotations between Yancheng-Osaka, Xining-Chengdu-Tokyo and Beijing-Astana.
Shanghai’s China Eastern Airlines got approvals for services from Wuxi-Busan, Kunming-Qingdao-San Francisco, Beijing-Hangzhou-Sydney, Kunming-Jeju, Lanzhou-Pudong-Nagoya and Ningbo-Cheongju.
Hainan Airlines got the green light for new routes between Dalian-Melbourne, and Shenzhen-Auckland. Hainan’s sister carrier, Beijing Capital Airlines, got the nod for Beijing-Zagreb, Beijing-Mexico City, Shenyang-Qingdao-Melbourne, as well as flights from Shenyang to Osaka, Shizuoka and Okinawa.
At budget carrier Spring Airlines, it all revolved around South Korea’s Jeju Island during the second quarter. The Shanghai-based LCC added twelve new routes into Jeju during the period, including flights from Harbin, Yangzhou, Tianjin, Shanghai, Urumqi, Shijiazhuang, Kunming, Shenyang and Hangzhou.
During the current third quarter, the CAAC has received applications from Tianjin Airlines for a new thrice-weekly Tianjin-Chongqing-Auckland A330 rotation from December, a four-weekly Air China Lanzhou-Chengdu-Paris A330 route from August, a daily China Eastern Airlines A320 Family flight connecting Shenzhen with Jakarta, as well as an application from China Eastern Airlines for new A320 services to Manila and Cebu from late July, with thrice- and four-weekly frequencies, respectively.
