Kunming’s Changshui International Airport hit a new milestone last Saturday (August 13) when it handled 1,011 flight movements, a new record since the  airfield opened in 2012, and coming in fourth after Beijing Capital International Airport, Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport.

Changshui International has become the base for three new market entrants. Yunnan Jingcheng Group-owned Ruili Airlines calls Changshui home, as do HNA’s Lucky Air and independent Hongtu Airlines.

Ruili Airlines on Wednesday took delivery of its tenth B737 aircraft, an off-factory -700 variant. Another -800 variant will join the carrier’s fleet in September.

Hongtu Airlines last week received its maiden A320. The carrier operates two A321s on flights from Kunming to Nanchang, Shenyang, Changchun, Zhengzhou and Hefei.

BOC Aviation this week delivered the first of seven new B737-800s to Lucky Air. The remaining six aircraft will be handed over by the first half of 2017."This lease placement with Lucky Air shows the continuing strong demand for new aircraft in the region,” said BOC CEO, Robert Martin.  Lucky Air has a fleet of 30 aircraft: three A319s, five A320s and 22 B737-700/800s.
