U.S. lessor confirms Mitsubishi jet order

Miami-headquartered, Aerolease Aviation, has signed a definitive purchase agreement for ten Mitsubishi MRJs and ten options, firming up a Letter of Intent signed at the 2016 Singapore Airshow. Read More » First delivery to the lessor is expected in 2018.

The MRJ program has recently experienced technical issues with the aircraft’s air management system, forcing it to abort a positioning flight to the U.S. where four of its aircraft are scheduled to perform the majority of their test flying. The program is already heavily delayed.

Mitsubishi has received 233 firm orders, 170 options and 24 purchase rights for the MRJ. ANA will be the launch customer. “The MRJ has an unmatched fuel efficiency, passenger comfort and environmental performance, which will provide new values of the regional jet to the market and customers. Aerolease is committed to cooperate with Mitsubishi Aircraft as an MRJ partner to expand its global customer base and to help enhance the asset value of the MRJ,” said Jep Thornton, a partner at Aerolease Aviation
