China’s airports report big first-half gains

Beijing Capital International Airport earned revenues of 4.24 billion yuan in the first-half, up 2% year-on-year, as its net profit grew 9.5% to 905 million yuan. The world’s second busiest airport by passengers carried registered 9.2% more passengers and 6.5% more aircraft movements during the period.
Shanghai Airport Authority, the management company of Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Hongqiao International Airport, posted first-half revenues of 3.4 billion yuan, up 9.8% year-on-year, as its net profit increased 8.9% to 1.41 billion yuan. Particularly noteworthy, Pudong and Hongqiao observed 41.3% growth in international passenger throughput in the first half, as well as 20% more international carrier movements.
Through to June 30, Shanghai Airport Authority’s rental income increased 12.5% to 1.06 billion yuan, accounting for almost a third of total revenues.
Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport said its first-half revenues rose 7.6% to 2.98 billion yuan and net profit increased 12.4% to 695 million yuan as it handled 28.8 million passengers, up 5.6%, and 4.6% more aircraft movements.
