Airbus, Etihad launch A380 MRO base in Abu Dhabi

Airbus and Etihad Airways Engineering this week signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to develop an A380 MRO service base in Abu Dhabi. Read More »

Third parties will be able to have their A380 fleets’ heavy maintenance checks and upgrades installations performed concurrently ‘under one roof’. In addition, all necessary consumable and expendable parts (needed for the heavy checks and upgrades service bulletin embodiment) will be provided on-site by Satair Group, Airbus’ dedicated inventory management subsidiary.

Etihad Airways Engineering recently delivered Etihad Airways’ first A380 heavy maintenance C-check, ahead of schedule, along with an extensive cabin refresh.

The partners are expecting brisk business. Out of the 198 A380s in service today, 99 are flying with Gulf carriers. Emirates Airline has 85 A380s (plus 57 on-order), Etihad eight (plus two) and Qatar Airways has six (plus four on-order).
