CAAC releases passenger and on-time performance data

The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) this week said passenger throughput on the Mainland in November grew 13.6% year-on-year, to 39.7 million. Read More » The regulator recorded a 14.2% increase in domestic travellers and an 8.1% rise in international travel. Mainland carriers filled 1.3% more seats than they did a year earlier, with an average load factor of 81.2%. Aircraft utilization remained stable at 9.2 hours a day.

The Mainland cargo segment continued to be relatively strong in November, with throughput up an average 9.5% year-on-year: 12.2% on domestic routes and 3.5% growth on international services.

The CAAC also released airline on-time performance data for December. Among the “major airlines”, which the CAAC defines as carriers operating more than 200 flights a day, Shenzhen Airlines took the top spot with an on-time rate of 82.97%, followed by Shandong Airlines (82.27%), Hainan Airlines (81.75%), Xiamen Airlines (81.61%) and China Eastern Airlines (80.94%).

Among the “other airlines”, meaning those with fewer than 200 flights a day, Juneyao Airlines came out on top with 88.11% of its flights departing on time.
