The LCC is still looking for its right place in the India-Thailand market. The Delhi-Bangkok route will be opened at the expense of Chennai-Bangkok, which it will be terminated next month because of its poor loads. But the carrier will continue to operate daily Kolkata-Bangkok flights.
The LCC plans to offer Delhi-Bangkok roundtrip tickets from 7,000 baht (US$195). Air India and THAI charge approximately 14,000 baht. Thailand is expected to be a huge future market for Indian carriers, especially for LCCs. Thailand is one of a handful of countries to grant visa free entry to Indian travellers.
India’s airlines have vast order backlogs to support their growth: SpiceJet - 155 B737MAXs, plus 50 options; Jet Airways - confirmed orders for 75 MAXs; Air India, IndiGo Airlines and GoAir have opted for A320neo Family aircraft with combined orders exceeding 450 A320neo.
