March 10th 2017
Taiwanese flag carrier, China Airlines (CAL), and NORDAM Aerospace Maintenance Group this week signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore a joint venture to provide MRO services for thrust reversers and other composite parts in the Asia-Pacific. Read More » The partnership will be NORDAM’s first and only commercial MRO facility in this region and will offer its services under the NORDAM brand name.
The tie-up has three core targets: to fulfil the maintenance requirements of the thrust reverser and composite parts fitted on CAL’s fleet; to develop CAL’s composite repair capabilities of nacelles, exhausts, radomes, flight controls and aero-structures and enhance the aviation industry capabilities in Taiwan. The two firms have been partners for more than a decade. NORDAM has been providing thrust reverser repair and overhaul services to CAL since 2006.
In January, CAL and Airbus announced an MRO MoU. Airbus and CAL subsidiary, Taiwan Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering (TAMECO), are evaluating technical and business solutions for all Airbus types operated by the airline: A350s, A340/A330s and the A320, which is part of the Tigerair Taiwan fleet.
Both parties also will explore and promote available retrofit, cabin and airframe modification services for the Airbus fleet. Airbus also will examine the feasibility of approving the carrier’s maintenance training centre as an official MRO partner and support the proposed business with ab-initio programs and mechanic courses.
