China Express Airlines to add Kuching base

Read More » After announcing its first international flights from Zhanjiang to Bangkok’s Don Mueang and Phnom Penh from March 28 and March 30, respectively, the Bombardier CRJ operator this week announced it would establish a base in the Malaysian city of Kuching after signing an agreement with the Sarawak state government and Beijing Glory International Culture Development Co Ltd, a Mainland tourism development firm promising to help fill the airline’s seats.
China Express Airlines operates 28 CRJ900s, with another ten on direct order from Bombardier. By 2020, the carrier hopes to grow its fleet to 66 aircraft.
China Express serves more than 70 second and third tier Mainland cities from its bases in Chongqing, Dalian, Guiyang, Xian and Hohhot. The private carrier code shares with Air China and China Southern Airlines.
