B737 MAX enters revenue service with Malindo Air

On Monday, Malindo flew the MAX on a return flight from its Kuala Lumpur base to Singapore. Flightradar24 data shows that the outbound journey took 47 minutes while the inbound took 43 minutes only. The aircraft, on lease from Avolon, is operating under the Malindo code, but is painted with the carrier’s new Batik Air Malaysia branding. The airline expects to accept three more MAXs this year. Parent Lion Air has ordered 200 of the type.
Norwegian will be the next carrier to put the MAX into service, followed by Southwest Airlines.
