CSA International to lease 28 aircraft to China Southern before year-end

CSA International, the leasing unit of China Southern Airlines, will take delivery of 28 Airbus and Boeing aircraft from July 1 through to December 31. Read More » All 28 jets will join China Southern’s fleet under sale-and-leaseback agreements, FlightGlobal has reported.
CSA says the deal is valued at US$1.06 billion; the aircraft will be leased to the airline for 10-12 years.
China Southern has approximately 200 aircraft on firm order directly from the manufacturers, including 20 A350s and 12 B787-9s. The airline now has six A320neo in service, with 94 more on firm order.
In March, American Airlines acquired 2.68% of China Southern equity for US$200 million.
In other China Southern news, the Guangzhou-based carrier on June 1 doubled frequency on the London Heathrow route. It now operates two B787-8s a day.
Also on June 1, the state-controlled airline launched a twice-weekly Shenzhen-Melbourne A330-300 route, which will be upgraded to thrice-weekly operations in July.
Rival Air China will launch a Shenzhen-Melbourne service in late June.
