China imposes temporary bans on Emirates’ expansion in China

Dubai’s Emirates Airline has been barred from adding destinations in Mainland China or making capacity adjustments on existing routes, until year-end. Read More » The bans were imposed after the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) claimed two of the carrier’s flights had not followed safety procedures.
In the first incident, in April, an Emirates airliner flew at a wrong flight level. In the second, the crew of an Emirates flight temporarily lost contact with air traffic controllers. The CAAC said its investigations into both incidents proved that the Emirates pilots were to blame for the infringements.
In addition to the network and capacity freeze, Emirates was also fined 29,000 yuan (US$4,270).
Emirates flies twice a day to Beijing and Shanghai, daily to Guangzhou and three times a week to Yinchuan and Zhengzhou.
