SriLankan becomes Asia-Pacific’s first A321neo operator

SriLankan Airlines this week became the first Asia-Pacific airline operator of the A321neo. Read More » The Airbus line number 7,663 arrived at SriLankan’s Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport on Sunday after a ferry flight from Airbus’ Hamburg final assembly line.

SriLankan has ordered four A321neo. It will lease two each from both AerCap and Air Lease Corp. (ALC). The second A321neo is due in September, the third by year-end and the final airliner of the type in early 2018.

SriLankan also has six A320neo on order, of which it has received two. The neos will replace the carrier’s ceos on regional routes to the Middle East, India and Southeast and East Asia. Initial routes include Colombo to Muscat, Hyderabad and Vishakhapatnam. From September, the neos will fly to Hong Kong and Singapore.
