Sichuan Airlines receives first A320neo

Sichuan Airlines this week took delivery of its first A320neo. The airline now operates 116 A320 Family aircraft and ten A330 wide-bodies. Read More » The Chengdu-headquartered airline also has signed Letters of Intent with two lessors for four A350-900s.

Powered by Pratt & Whitney’s geared turbofan engines, Sichuan’s A320neo features a low-density two-class layout of eight domestic first class seats and 150 economy seats. The airline’s 55 A320ceo have eight first and 142 economy seats.

Sichuan Airlines will operate the neo on domestic and international routes. It flies to approximately 70 destinations, including Los Angeles, Vancouver and Prague.

The partnership between Sichuan Airlines and Airbus dates back to 1995 when the airline introduced the A320. It was the first airline to operate an Airbus fly-by-wire aircraft in China. Sichuan Airlines also was also the first carrier to operate a “Made in China” Tianjin-assembled Airbus aircraft when it received an A320 from the Tianjin Final Assembly Line in 2009. It received its first A330 in 2010.

Sichuan Airlines is owned by the Sichuan provincial government, as well as China Southern Airlines, Shandong Airlines and Shanghai Airlines.
