Mainland flag carrier, Air China, will add Brisbane as its third destination to Australia from December 11, with a four times a week A330-200. Read More » Air China flies from Beijing and Shanghai to Melbourne and from Beijing, Chengdu and Shanghai to Sydney. Unlike its Mainland competitors China Eastern Airlines and China Southern Airlines, Air China does not serve Adelaide or Perth.

“These services are crucial for growing and supporting Queensland’s important tourism, trade, business and education industry sectors, while making our city and state a prime gateway for Chinese visitors and removing the need for Queensland travellers to transit via other ports,” said Brisbane Airport CEO, Julieanne Alroe. “Quite simply, these new services would not have been secured without the financial support provided by the State Government and matching funds from industry partners,” she added.

Brisbane Airport has significantly improved its connections to China over the past two years. The airport receives daily China Southern flights from Guangzhou, four times a week China Eastern flights from Shanghai and twice a week Hainan Airlines services from Shenzhen.

Hong Kong’s Cathay Pacific Airways serves Brisbane daily. Qantas Airways operates A330s once a day from Brisbane to Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo.
