Xiamen Airlines to exceed 200 aircraft in 2018

China Southern Airlines subsidiary and fellow SkyTeam member, Xiamen Airlines, will have more than 200 aircraft in its fleet by 2018, including 18 B787 wide bodies. Read More » The airline operates 145 Boeing narrow bodies and ten B787s, as well as 26 narrow bodies in service with its Hebei Airlines and Jiangxi Air subsidiaries.

Xiamen Air has six B787-8s and four larger -9s in its fleet and will take delivery of eight more -9s by year end 2018. The -8s have four first class, 18 business class and 215 economy seats. The -9s have two classes: 30 in business and 257 in economy.

Xiamen Air’s long-haul destinations are Amsterdam, Los Angeles, Melbourne, New York, Seattle, Sydney and Vancouver. The airline plans to add routes to Paris and Toronto by 2020.

Xiamen Air reported a 2017 first-half net profit of 766 million yuan (US$118 million), up 6% year-on-year. First-half operating revenue improved 20.4%, to 12.3 billion yuan. Operating expenses ballooned 26%, to 10.8 billion yuan. The carrier’s first-half load factor was 80%, up 4.4%.
