HNA launches US$8 billion digital tourism platform

“Following years of preparation,” China’s HNA Group on Tuesday launched HiApp, a new digital tourism platform the conglomerate says will help achieve its digital transformation strategy. Read More »

The 50 billion yuan (US$7.7 billion) investment will be operational before year-end, HNA Group director, Zhang Ling, and HiApp chairman, Tong Fu, said at the Beijing launch event.

Haikou-based HNA Group—parent of Hainan Airlines—said it would integrate its online and offline resources covering the fields of technology, investment, finance and services to become a “leading comprehensive modern service provider of the entire tourism industry”, including one-stop services comprising airfare, ground services, hotel and other ancillaries.

HNA Group has 19 airline subsidiaries operating about 760 aircraft. The company also owns air caterer Gategroup, airport services company Swissport, aircraft lessor Avolon and aviation MRO company SR Technics.
