Cathay Pacific to launch Washington DC next year

Hong Kong’s Cathay Pacific Airways is expected to launch the first nonstop route between Hong Kong and the U.S. capital, Washington D.C., in 2018, the South China Morning Post reported this week. At a distance of 8,150nms, the Dulles service will be Cathay’s longest route. Read More » The carrier will operate the flight with a three-class A350-900, seating 38 in business, 28 in premium economy and 214 in economy.

Cathay has been expanding its long-haul network in the past two years, including the additions of Newark and Boston. It also has announced new routes to Dublin, Copenhagen and Brussels for 2018. The airline also is believed to be planning to add either Miami or Seattle or both destinations to its network.
