AirAsia appoints new CEO, reshuffles top management

Low-cost conglomerate, AirAsia Berhad, has announced the appointment of Riad Asmat as CEO. Read More » The 46-year-old will succeed Aireen Omar, who has been promoted to Deputy Group CEO – Digital, Transformation, Corporate Services.

Asmat, currently a director of corporate planning, strategy and business development at Naza Corp. Holdings, is the son of Tan Sri Asmat Kamaludin, a director at long-haul sister carrier, AirAsia X Berhad, He will move into the CEO suite on January 10.

His predecessor, Aireen Omar, will oversee group wide digital strategy, while continuing to look after government relations and the corporate services sector, including risk management.

Other promotions included Captain Adrian Jenkins from group director to COO and Rozman Omar as the new executive director of AirAsia International Ltd., the holding company of all AirAsia Group investments in its overseas joint ventures. Omar was previously deputy group CEO – strategy and MNA.
