ACCC reauthorizes Jetstar subsidiaries cooperation

Following draft reauthorization of the Qantas Airways-Emirates Airline partnership, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has also approved the continued cooperation between Australia’s Jetstar Airways and its three Asian subsidiaries, Singapore’s Jetstar Asia Airways, Vietnam’s Jetstar Pacific and Jetstar Japan, for five years through to March 31, 2023. “The ACCC considers that continuing this coordination should lead to public benefits, such as better products and services, and more convenient flight times for consumers,” said ACCC commissioner, Roger Featherston.
The four Jetstar units coordinate schedules, sales, pricing and marketing activities.
Jetstar Asia is a joint venture with Singapore-based Westbrook Investments; Jetstar Pacific with Vietnam Airlines; and Jetstar Japan with Japan Airlines (JAL).
Australia’s Jetstar Airways is a Qantas Airways subsidiary.
