Yangon International Airport grows 8.5% in 2017

Yangon International Airport recorded 5.92 million passengers in 2017, an 8.5% increase compared to the previous year, comprising 3.93 million international and 1.99 million domestic passengers. Read More » Traffic movements grew by 11.05% in 2017, to 78,076.

The airport has a design capacity of 20 million annual passengers. This week it announced that its domestic and international terminals were now connected, adding convenience and shaving off transfer time.

There are now 28 international airlines and 8 domestic carriers serving Yangon International, including Emirates Airline flights to Phnom Penh and Dubai, Qatar Airways to Doha, Korean Air to Seoul and Cathay Dragon to Hong Kong.

On Monday, the airport welcomed its millionth passenger this year, a Myanmar citizen who arrived on Emirates from Dubai.

The “lucky passenger received 1 Million MMK [US$750] worth of cash and 1 Million MMK in other gifts,” Yangon Aerodrome Company Ltd., the airport operator, said in a statement.

It's not true that "its domestic and international terminals were now connected". This is a long term plan that is still years away. None of the three terminals are currently connected.
