Sichuan Airlines to launch five A350 long-haul routes

Chengdu-based full service carrier, Sichuan Airlines is rapidly growing its long-haul network. Read More » It will add routes from Chengdu to Boston, Cairo, Copenhagen, Tel Aviv and Zurich from May, airline chairman, Li Haiying, told Mainland media this week.

Sichuan Airlines also is considering launching flights to Panama City, the chairman said. “We haven’t fully decided […] this Panama route still needs verification,” he said. Air China will start twice a week flights from Beijing to Panama City, via Houston, on March 29.

Sichuan Airlines has a wide body fleet of six A330-200s (two owned and four leased) and five A330-300s (one owned and five leased). The airline has signed contracts for the planned lease of four A350-900s. The first XWB will be delivered to the carrier this month and will fly internationally for the airline from May.

Sichuan Airlines also operates 55 A320ceo, five A320neo and 38 A321ceo on more than 270 domestic and regional routes. It has invested more than US$1 billion in the construction of the new Chengdu Tianfu International Airport.
