VietJet to enter cargo market

Following massive aircraft orders from Airbus and Boeing and the recent announcement of its first intercontinental route between Vietnam and Australia, VietJet has plans to enter the air freight market with a dedicated cargo fleet. Read More »

Speaking to Cargo Facts, VietJet vice president for freight, Do Xuan Quang, said the carrier was in the process of sourcing two initial B737-400Fs from lessors and hoped to deploy them in the second half of this year on flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi; Bangkok, Hong Kong and Tokyo. If the initial business works, the airline will consider additional cargo planes, potentially including A330Fs, the VietJet executive said.

Separately, VietJet this week signed a sale-and-leaseback deal with GECAS for six A321neo as well as a support deal with Safran for CFM engines.
