JetGo Australia’s managing director, Paul Bredereck, said: “We have been going through the process of commissioning a new aircraft into our fleet for the introduction of this service, which has required considerable preparation. Unfortunately, due to delays with the delivery of the new aircraft into Australia, we have had to defer the commencement of our Brisbane to Karratha service to allow for final approvals to be processed,” he said, adding that passengers affected by the delay would be issued a A$100 voucher to be used towards future bookings.

JetGo is based in Brisbane. The airline operates two E135LRs, two E140LRs and two E145LRs, capable of performing flights with a range of up to 2,500km.

JetGo is planning to launch its maiden international route in the second half of the year, extending the Brisbane-Karratha E190 flights to Singapore’s Changi Airport.

Karratha Airport is currently undergoing upgrade works, including the addition of immigration facilities, ahead of the Singapore launch.

“We are supporting JETGO in its final phase of commissioning and approvals and look forward to the commencement of the Karratha to Brisbane service in August,” said Karratha mayor, Peter Long.

“We are also progressing with mandatory modifications and approvals required for international status at our airport terminal to enable the Singapore to Karratha service to commence later in the year, as planned,” Long added.
