As a result, SAS will switch the service to Copenhagen-Hong Kong from October 28. It also will implement its new slot schedule at Hong Kong International Airport to achieve better onward connectivity. The new slot will be a late night departure from Hong Kong with an early morning arrival into Copenhagen’s Kastrup Airport.

SAS will continue to serve Hong Kong five times a week with an A340-300 instead of the A330-300 it used on the Stockholm route.

“We look forward to being able to offer our customers a better timetable with attractive night flights to and from Kastrup. Obviously, it’s sad that we’re moving from Stockholm, but in this case, Copenhagen offers better long-term opportunities that will enable us to further improve the SAS customer experience,” SAS’s Sandlund said.

Cathay Pacific Airways launched a three times a week Hong Kong-Copenhagen A350-900 service in May, with the seasonal route scheduled to run to October 12. Orient Aviation understands the airline is considering an upgrade of the route to a year-round service.
