Biman Bangladesh Airlines orders three Bombardier Q400s

Following disappointing sales at July’s Farnborough Airshow, Canadian manufacturer, Bombardier, this week announced an order for three Q400 turboprops from the Bangladeshi government on behalf of flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines. Read More »

The Dhaka-based airline operates a pair of Q400s on dry-lease from Egypt’s Smart Aviation on domestic routes as well as to Yangon and Kolkata.

Biman will also receive four widebody B787-8s this year, adding to its current fleet of four B737-800s and five B777s.

The airline faces stiff competition from Middle Eastern and privately-held local Bangladeshi carriers. Biman’s long-haul network serves London Heathrow, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Jeddah and Riyadh.
