“The non-stop Shenzhen–Zurich service will bring more convenience to passengers traveling on business and for leisure. It will promote the development of the economies, cultures and tourism of the two countries and offer more opportunities for collaboration between companies in Europe and China,” Hainan Airlines, a HNA Group carrier, said.

Earlier this year, Hainan opened routes from Shenzhen to Madrid, Brussels and Vancouver. On October 20, it will commence non-stop Shenzhen-Vienna.

Hainan is not the only Mainland carrier with its sights set on Zurich. During the northern summer, Sichuan Airlines launched a three times a week Chengdu-Prague-Zurich A330 triangular route. The airline will add Chengdu to Boston, Cairo and Copenhagen later this year to capitalise on its US$1 billion plus contribution to the construction of the new Chengdu Tianfu International Airport.
