The Star Alliance member will serve Vienna daily with a B787-9 Dreamliner, seating 48 passengers in business class and 167 in economy class. The route will be part of the airline's joint venture with Austrian Airlines.

ANA already flies daily to Brussels, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt (double daily), London, Munich and Paris.

"Next year Japan and Austria will commemorate the 150th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, and we are pleased to make our award-winning air travel more convenient for travelers from both nations. Vienna is known as the historical and geographical gateway to Central and Eastern Europe, and we look forward to strengthening ties between Japan and this dynamic region by offering flights that are ideal for business travelers and tourists," said ANA vice president, Seiichi Takahashi.

Vienna Airport’s popularity with Asian carriers is on the rise. Thai Airways International added a service to Bangkok last year and Hainan Airlines will launch a route to Shenzhen later this month. Korean Air, EVA Air and Air China continue to serve the Austrian capital.
